Stout, Glenn, Good Sports: Yes,
She Can! Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2011. Pgs. 117. INFORMATION.
Trudy Ederle, Louis Stokes, Tidye
Pickett, Julie Krone, and Danica Patrick were all pioneers in women sports.
Prior to the 20th century, women were considered inferior and
incapable of competing in sports. Many women didn’t even know how to swim, but
as these pioneers fought obstacles and closed-minded people, they were able to
beat the odds and make a place for themselves and other women in the world of
competitive sports.
An informative, inspirational book
for girls. The layout is good. The text is simple to understand, but
entertaining enough to read. Readers who like sports, biographies, and history
will enjoy reading this book. EL (4-6), MS. OPTIONAL. Reviewer: Kira M, Youth Services
Librarian, WHI Public Library.
