Cleo Edison Oliver by Sundee Frazier –ADVISABLE

Franzier, Sundee Cleo Edison Oliver 224 pgs. Levine (Scholastic), 2016. $6.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: G
Cleo is a young girl with a head for business. She has even geared her initials to be CEO, because she is ready to lead her own company. She finally lands on a business plan, to use her little brothers nerf gun to help pull out other students loose teeth. At first it seems like a really great idea, but that is before a series of things go wrong including her very special friendship with her best friend.
I have done a poor job describing this book, I made it sound very linear when in fact it is a fully fleshed out world full of characters and sub plots. It features themes of coping with adoption, sibling relationships, friendships, dealing with school bullies, goals and ambitions, and family dynamics. Cleo is both precocious and imaginative, making for an interesting and fun read. I think that 3-4 graders would enjoy this realistic fiction book very much.
