Polka Dots for Poppy by Amy Schwartz- OPTIONAL

Schwartz, Amy. Polka Dots for Poppy, PICTURE BOOK. Holiday House, 2016. $16.95.

Four sisters are heading to the store for back to school shopping with their mom. Each sister has something very special in mind for what she would like to get to wear. They arrive at the mall and choose shoes and clothes and each sister can find exactly what she wants… Except for Poppy, who really wants things with polka dots. The group of them travels back home and eventually little Poppy goes to bed. Her sisters figure out a plan however to decorate her white clothes with a variety of polka dots made from markers. Their mom is surprised in the morning, but Poppy is over the moon.

I liked that this story showed that there are all types of personalities between girls, as well as families. I thought it was really sweet that the older sisters wanted to do something really nice for their youngest sibling. The pictures were fine but not massively appealing.
