Dear Santa, Love, Rachel Rosenstein by Peet and Troyer - ESSENTIAL

Peet, Amanda and Andrea Troyer Dear Santa, Love, Rachel Rosenstein, illustrated by Christine Davenier.  PICTURE BOOK.  Doubleday (Penguin), 2015.  $18.

Rachel Rosenstein loves the traditions that surround Hanukkah, but she can’t help to be jealous when she sees all of the Christmas decorations on every house on her street – except hers.  She is determined that this year Santa will also come to her house.

Peet and Tryoer do an excellent job of describing the conflicting feelings for a non-Christian at Christmas.  And they very cleverly handle a great message for their book.  This should be a standard in every elementary school library and you should be encouraging your teachers to share it and talk about with their students. And make sure to mention this to all of your non-Christian friends.
