The Tinker King by Tiffany Trent - ADVISABLE

Trent, Tiffany The Tinker King, 310 p. Simon & Schuster, 2014.  $18.

Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: PG

When Vespa released the Elementals, she also released the Dark Elementals - the ones who want to destroy all humankind in retribution for the torture inflicted the Elementals for all of those years.  New London has sworn off the use of power harvested from killing Elementals, but the evil Ximu, Queen of the siren, a race of spiders, wants the power and the revenge.  Vespa, Olivia, Syrus and Bayne are fighting an uphill battle to save humankind.

I had a struggle with the beginning, because the story seemed so unconnected to the first in the series and so slow.  Once Ximu was introduced, though, things got very interesting indeed.  One of the main characters is not really human, some old enemies are set to return and Saint Tesla himself is set to make an appearance.  Number two is definitely more steampunk that the first.
