As the heir apparent to the throne of America, Beatrice Washington, 20yo, will be the first female to ascend to the throne that originated with George Washington back in the 1770’s. Just a generation earlier, her younger brother Jefferson would have be the heir. But its Beatrice who must find a husband worthy to be her prince. But what if her heart tells her she wants something all together different from her life?
The title’s promise of American royalty is thin, since there is nothing explicitly American about the characters since the actual concept of AMERICA is antithetical to the concept of a kingdom. The only thing America-like is the names of places. But – my students LOVE Kiera Cass’s Selection series, so I think they will enjoy this for the same reasons. Very romantic, beautiful gowns, love triangle etc. Looks to be first in a series.
