The latest in this
Nancy Drew reboot has the girl detective traveling to an out of town wedding
with her best friends, George and Bess. From the start, the wedding seems to be
cursed with ghosts, threats, and missing rings. Nancy vows to get to the bottom
of this mystery before the wedding is called off.
I was a big fan of the
original Nancy Drew books as a kid, so I was interested to see how these
"Diaries" held up. The material has been updated for the 21st century
but the basic "Nancy solves a mystery" is the same with a variety of
suspects being introduced and Nancy getting into a tight spot (thus the PG
violence rating) at the very end as she solves the mystery. The only difficulty
I had with the book was reading a book that is written so clearly for a middle
level audience with a 20-something heroine. It was weird and also did not mesh
with the cover super well. All in all, for any younger readers who want a light
mystery, these can still be your go-to.
