Roberts, Cokie Ladies
of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation
Illustrated by Diane Goode PICTURE
BOOK Harper, 2017. $17.99
Content: G.
This book has mini
biographies on some of the more influential women in the United States after
the American Revolution. Some of the
women were independent and helped with social causes and some influenced
through their relationships with powerful men.
Each biography explains how that woman influenced our country for the
better.
This book is content heavy and each
biography has 4-5 paragraphs and two pictures.
The facts included are highlights from the women’s lives, but it felt
like a list of their contributions and it didn’t have a lot of human interest
aspects. Although it’s a picture book,
the content is more advanced and would work better for teens.
MS – OPTIONAL. Reviewer, C. Peterson.
