Snicket, Lemony Goldfish Ghost, illustrated by Lisa Brown. PICTURE BOOK. Roaring Brook Press, 2017. $17.99. Content: G.
When Goldfish turns into a ghost, he discovers that a) his bowl, while pleasant, is lonely when he's not alive and b) he now has the freedom to travel. And travel he does, all through the seaside town where he once lived. But solitary adventures are not as fun, and nobody notices the invisible fish, let alone befriends him. What is a lonely ghost to do?
While the story is interesting, with a good point about how everybody wants to find friends, it is the illustrations I particularly enjoy. They are full of amusing little details, including characters who unexpectedly appear on multiple pages and hints at other ghosts living in the area.
