Gerald is a griffling reaching his 10th hatch day
anniversary. To be a full griffin, he has to bring back a great treasure to
show his community that he is a daring, fierce, true griffin. A misfit in is
family as well as his community, Gerald decides to runaway to the human world
to prove himself. There, he is seen by Bradley Ashvango. Bradley is a human
misfit who is staying with his grandmother, Bibi at Vande Velde landing, where
not everything is as it seems. Together, can the two save a community of
gnomes? Can they find Gerald a treasure?
The flawed main characters are endearing, well-developed,
and easy to relate to. The action, adventure, and fantasy mixed with the
character dynamics helps to pull the reader into Geral and Bradley’s world.
Fans of Bruce Coville, fantasy, and adventure will enjoy reading this book.
