Meltzer, Brad I am
Abraham Lincoln Illustrated by
Christopher Eliopoulos Dial Books,
2014. $12.99 PICTURE BOOK
Content: G.
This story is
narrated by a little Abraham Lincoln. It
tells of when Abraham Lincoln was young and stopped some kids from abusing
turtles, leading him on his first fight against injustice. Abraham thought that fairness was important
and was respected for his values. When
he became president he wanted all people to be free, so he stood up for
equality. In the end, the little Abraham
Lincoln narrator explains that he stood up for what is right and that we should
speak up for others when we can.
This is
an adorable, simple look at standing up for others and our values. It has highlights of Abraham Lincoln’s life
and at the end of the book it has some real pictures. The illustrations are great and there are
little conversation bubbles throughout to further tell the story.
