Biscuit Loves the Library by Alyssa Satin Capucilli --ADVISABLE

Capucilli, Alyssa Satin Biscuit Loves the Library, illustrated by Pat Schories. HarperCollins, 2014. $3.99. Content: G

It's Read to a Pet Day at the library, and Biscuit and his girl are attending. Together they explore the children's area, looking at books on topics ranging from bunnies to bears to dinosaurs, listening to the audio books, and playing with the puppets. But when they find a cozy spot to read, surrounded by all the other pets and pet owners, their day is made.

Biscuit Loves the Library is a positive introduction to some of the services offered at libraries, and Biscuit's enthusiasm may help motivate some children to make library visits of their own. Those who look closely at the cover will likely be delighted to see that the book Biscuit is reading is also Biscuit Loves the Library. And the dog in that book is reading...you guessed it! Biscuit Loves the Library. As in other Biscuit books, the dog's repetitive "Woof" does become rather annoying when reading aloud, but it can be helpful for beginning readers attempting the book on their own.
