Violet can see and hear ghosts, which
helps when she lives in a mortuary with her father and can help the average
ghost pass over to the other side.
Violet inherited her skill from her mom, but wishes that her mom were
still around to help her know how to use her skills and to know what exactly
ghosts can and can’t do. Violet
starts at a new school and meets some new friends who help her solve a ghost
problem in the girls’ gym room.
Violet also helps a friend come to terms with a student who passed away the
year before. While Violet is
trying to solve her ghost problems at the school, she goes looking for her
mom’s paranormal investigator instruments and comes across the information
surrounding the case that her mom died trying to solve.
Violet and her friends are fun quirky
characters and there is enough adventure going on in the book at all times to
keep the reader engaged. The story
isn’t deep, but it can get creepy.
I like that it can stand alone, unlike most paranormal stories right
now.
