Count with Maisy, Cheep, Cheep, Cheep! by Lucy Cousins - ESSENTIAL

Cousins, Lucy Count with Maisy, Cheep, Cheep, Cheep! PICTURE BOOK. Candlewick Press. 2015. $15.99.

It’s almost bedtime, and Mommy Hen can’t find her 10 little chicks! Luckily, Maisy is here to help. Maisy and Mother Hen search through the barnyard until all the chicks are found.

This book is a must have for any younger reader beginning to count. It’s a “lift-the-flap” book, which are always a hit. Finding a cute little chick under each flap is a blast, especially with the bright and colorful illustrations. Each chick has a bright bold number above its head making it easy and fun to count along.  The only downside to this book is that the pages and flaps are really big and flimsy. The pages are hard to turn because the flaps never stay put. That being said, it certainly doesn’t take way from the enjoyment of the book. This has become a favorite at our house.

Pre-K - ESSENTIAL. Reviewer: Rebecca H.
