Lyra is an Unremarkable in an Empire that only cares about Remarkables. In fact, if Lyra isn’t accepted into a Guild by her 12th birthday, she will be sent into the mists. Rejected by the latest guild, she finds a surprise in the forest - the Guild of Scholars. Lyra is in love with the guild and she has been given one of the hardest quests ever to prove her worth. If she can restore the Library before her 12th birthday, she will avoid the mists and possibly find a new family.
I listened to the book courtesy of libro.fm and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It reminded me of Dianne Wynne Jones’s Chrestomanci series. I am hoping for another installment.
