Kate Brighton is the daughter of a traitor to the king and no one will ever let her forget that. She’s carved out a precarious life for herself as one of a relay rider – a dangerous job that just became more dangerous as the former nightdrake monsters have started attacking in broad daylight. Kate manages to save the life of Corwin, her former best friend and the King’s younger son, but she uses powers she has been trying to hide.
There is so much more that I could tell you about this book – excellent details that will wet our whistle for more, but I won’t. I will tell you that Arnett has crafted a book with a nicely rendered deep game, and she has integrated the romance so that it is neatly interwoven into the danger and not just the end game of the plot. Arnett’s writing skills have only improved with each of her books!
