Katie was a picky eater, but as she grows up it slips into
bulimia and anorexia. Combined with a number of bad incidents at a festival and
becoming a teen, she falls into extreme mental illness and poor health before
gradually finding herself and her health again.
This is a biography of the author and will connect with many
students going through similar issues. That being said it was a difficult read
as the mental illness portion of the event was upsetting, not to mention of the
visuals of the sexual abuse she endured. It’s quite a long book but yet a
fairly quick read. Its an important topic and very raw –it may be an option for
your high school library.
