Donuts: The Hole Story by David Miles - OPTIONAL

Miles, David Donuts: The Hole Story.  PICTURE BOOK.  Familius, MAY 2018.  $17.  9781945547935

The donuts are sleeping through the night on the bakery shelves.  Or are they?  Donuts actually have a rich life after the lights are out.  Including a plan escape when they realize that I the morning people will be coming to eat them!

Miles tries to write in a rhyming pattern, but it doesn’t always make sense.  And anthropomorphizing something that we know is supposed to be where it is to be eaten – also hard to buy.  I prefer Terry Border’s Cupcake and friends books fo this style of writing.  The illustrations are super bright and cute, but the reading is a little bit clunky.  It certainly did make me hungry for donuts!
