Gonzalez, Christina Diaz Return Fire (Moving Targets #2),
224 pages. Scholastic, 2016. $18.
Content: G (trouble and danger, nothing graphic).
After being betrayed by her best friend, Cassie is unsure
who to turn to for help, not fully trusting even Asher, her Guardian. Their lives are permanently bound now that
Cassie has handled the Spear of Destiny, but the Hastati, who want to control
Cassie, and thus control the fate of the world through her, are hot on their
trail and they are happy to kill in order to get to her. Cassie needs to find the Spear of Destiny and
decide what to do next, even if it means relying on Simone, the former best
friend.
I wanted to like this, but again, it is just an optional
offering. Best enjoyed by younger
readers who only want action.
EL, MS – OPTIONAL.
