Matteson, George and Adele Ursone The Christmas Tugboat: How the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Came to
New York City, illustrated by James E. Ransome.
Clarion (Houghton), 2012. $18. Content: G.
PICTURE BOOK.
George Matteson
really was a tugboat captain in New York Harbor and took his wife and daughter
along the time he was called on to deliver the Christmas tree to Rockefeller
Center. Ransome’s illustrations evoke
the feeling of the holidays and coziness just perfectly. For children who don’t live near waterways,
this is a great look at the work done by
these little ships – or just a fun holiday collection addition.
