Arnold, Carol Too Hot? Too Cold? Keeping Body Temperature
Just Right, PICTURE BOOK. Charlesbridge, 2013. $7.95. Content: G.
This book
uses animals and children to account for the body’s processes to regulate
temperature. It gives a lot of interesting facts about various habits and
biology (hibernation, goosebumps, blubber, etc.). The book is very accurate and
has great facts. The pictures are
eye-catching and relevant. My only
complaint was the length. While
really educational and efficient at delivering the material, it was just too
long and had a lot of information presented on the pages. As a book to just sit down and read
straight through, it might be a bit much for most young readers. I think it would be a very viable
resource for nonfiction, if utilized the right way, especially to support
Common Core goals.
