Tea for Ruby Illustrated by
Robin Preiss Glasser Simon and
Schuster, 2008. $7.99 PICTURE BOOK Content:
G.
Ruby receives an
invitation to have tea with the queen, and she is so excited that she runs
around her house and at school telling everyone about it. As she is telling different people that
she is having tea with the queen, they tell her different manners that she
needs to learn before she has tea with the queen. At the end of the book, Ruby dresses up and goes to see the
“queen” her grandmother. She uses
all of the manners that she has been working on all week to have a fun tea with
her grandma.
This has great
illustrations (it is the same illustrator as Fancy Nancy books) and bright
colors to hold little readers attention.
The story has a great format for teaching little girls manners. The ending is also fun because it’s a
good surprise to see that the grandma is the queen.
EL (K-3)-ADVISABLE.
