Imani has never questioned the scores or the system behind them. She does
what she's supposed to do, not really knowing (or caring) why everyone follows.
That is, until her score drops by thirty points, her best friend leaves, and an
unscored becomes a friend.
Scored is one of the more interesting utopian
stories I've read because it is similar to real life. The truth that Imani
finds in the system separating people is how our society naturally acts, but in
cliques instead of scores. From that point of view, Imani's quest to find
herself outside of those boundaries is one everybody takes on in their life.
