Trip to the Bottom of the World with Mouse. Candlewick Press, 2012. $12.95 PICTURE
BOOK Content: G.
Mouse and his friend go on a ship
ride to an arctic region and the waves cause them to go up and down and make it
hard to eat and sleep. The entire
trip Mouse asks if they can go home yet, but his friend keeps telling him what
they still need to do before they go home. After getting their warm clothes and boots on they go on
deck to check out the penguins and killer whale. Then they go swimming and see a seal and some
fish after which Mouse’s human friend declares that they can now go home.
This is formatted like a comic book and
the artwork has a modern look to it.
The storyline isn’t very captivating, but the format and pictures make
it interesting to read.
