Laugh-Out Loud Baby
Illustrated by Stephen Gammell
Simon and Schuster, 2012.
$16.99 PICTURE BOOK Content: G.
In this beautifully illustrated book, a baby has his first
laugh. To celebrate the beautiful
joyous laugh, his parents invite friends, family and neighbors to their house
were they eat a feast. All the
guests at the party laugh and talk, but the baby doesn’t laugh again at first. Eventually, towards the end of the
night the baby laughs for all of the visitors and then everyone kisses the baby
as they leave the house.
The story
is not that engaging, but the illustrations are fun. There is a small paragraph at the back of the book that
explains the Navajo tradition that the book is based on, which helps the book
make more sense and needs to be at the beginning.
