Elliott goes to the aquarium with his father and decides that he wants a
penguin. When he asks his father,
who is engrossed in his National Geographic, his father says it’s okay and
gives him some money thinking that Elliott is buying a stuffed animal. Elliott takes the penguin home in his
backpack and takes care of it without his father knowing. Eventually at the end, when the dad
finds the penguin, Elliott learns that his dad has a secret pet too.
Adorable book with great illustrations,
and Elliott uses his manners words throughout.
