Ylvisaker, Anne The Luck of the Buttons 224 pgs. Candlewick Press, 2011. Language/Violence/Sexual Content: G. $15.99.
Tugs Button comes from an unlucky family and no one believes it can ever change. But Tugs is determined to change the luck of the Button family, which she does with the help of a 3 legged race, a Brownie camera, and a con-man.
Only spanning a total of 1.5 weeks, the story was slow, boring, and confusing with so many odd names to keep straight. The main character was the books one redeeming point as Tugs was very spunky and like-able. And although the plot was semi-intriguing, I wouldn't recommend this book as I don't know how it could hold any young readers attention. EL- OPTIONAL. Whitney, Library-Teacher.
