Nina can’t believe how lucky she is to be dating Seth. He’s
smart and good-looking. She’s even willing to overlook the conditions required
to keep him: 1) Sex is a must 2) She must let HIM call HER 3) They can never
discuss Apollonia Corado. She met the conditions, but it’s over anyway. He’s
back with Apollonia, and Nina's pregnant. As she does everything, she handles
it herself. She schedules the abortion, the same way she scheduled her birth
control appointment. The same way she chooses to volunteer at the animal
shelter. If only she had a mother who cared, maybe she would see herself
differently.
From cover to cover this book is packed with mature content.
Sexual encounters are graphic. Beginning with the full detail of a
gynecological exam, continuing with details of sexual episodes, including oral
sex and masturbation with a vibrator, and ending with full details of an
abortion. Through most of the book we see a teenager who is trying to figure
herself out and most importantly, understand love. There is a good message for
teens at the end. Don’t look for someone else to give you love, but rather
create your own love through service to others, which Nina does by loving the
shelter animals.
