Little Elliot: Fall Friends by Mike Curato- Advisable

Curato, Mike. LittleElliot: Fall Friends, PICTURE BOOK. Henry Holt and Company, 2017. $17.99.

Elliot and his friend, Mouse, need a break from the busy, noisy city. They take a bus out to the country for some fresh air and wide-open spaces. They eat apples and play games. When Elliot hides for hide and seek, Mouse never shows up, but Elliot smells something delicious. When he follows his nose to an apple pie cooling on a windowsill, out pops mouse to tell him he’s been found. They enjoy a tasty feast with new farm friends and spend the night in the barn.

This book is very sweet, just like the other Little Elliot books. Elliot and Mouse enjoy spending time together and younger readers will like reading about the fun fall activities they take part in. It was a little slow in terms of conflict. The whole story stays very mellow throughout and it made it somewhat unexciting. This is still a sweet book to add to your Little Elliot collection, however.
