Somewhere around the world on Christmas Eve, the clock
strikes midnight and a handful of people have a second chance to change their
life before they go the way of Marley.
That’s right. Scrooge may be the
best known of the redeemed, but there are actually several every year - at
midnight on Christmas Eve. Holly Chase,
however, was one of the rare failures.
Now her after life for the last five years has been to play the role of
the Ghost of Christmas Past for other prospective Scrooges. This year’s Scrooge feels different to
Holly. First off, he is totally
hot! And he’s the same age as Holly was
when she died - as she has been for the last five years. And his story is so
much like Holly’s own story. Is there a
way before the annual Christmas play that she could help him along his way and
guarantee his success? But getting
involved also means breaking the rules
and setting herself up for failure again.
I can not express how much I loved this book. It was refreshingly unexpected in many
wonderful ways. Hand’s diverse body of
work continues to amaze me. My favorite
Christmas book ever.
