Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles - OPTIONAL

Reekles, Beth  Kissing Booth, 440 pgs. Ember, 2012.  $8.99  Content: Language: PG-13 (87 swears); Mature Content: PG-13; Violence: PG-13.

Sixteen year old Elle and her best friend, Lee, set up a kissing booth for the school carnival, but Elle doesn’t expect to get her first kiss from Lee’s brother, Noah.  Elle has lived her whole life with Lee by her side, so she is afraid of her feelings for his older brother Noah and what that would do to her best friend.  Elle decides to keep it a secret from Lee, but how long can she keep a secret and what does that really mean about her relationship with Noah?

This is a light, fast teen romance.  The mature content is because the characters have sex with each other, but it is off page.  I enjoyed the uncertainty of the romance, but I was annoyed that Elle wasn’t more careful with the boys’ feelings.  There are better teen romances out there, but this was fun too.

HS-OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
