Wright, Michael. Jake Goes Peanuts, 48 pgs. Feiwel and Friends, 2010. $16.99. PICTURE BOOK. Content-G. Write uses bright and bold cartoon characters to depict a picky eater named Jake not wanting to eat any other goods other than peanut butter. “He would not try tomatoes or a single Brussels sprout. And if he tasted something new, he'd spit that thing right out.” In an attempt to expand their son's palate, his parents offer to add peanut butter to each and every meal. After a week of “peanut butter pot roast, peanut butter soda, and peanut butter ice,” his parent's plan takes hold and Jake thirsts for a more balanced diet. We really enjoyed this book. The cartoon characters are a thrill to look at. There is one mention of Jake experiencing "peanut butter poop", which might add much laughter and negative drama in a classroom. On that basis, I wouldn't highly recommend it to librarians. EL, OPTIONAL. Reviewer: SL
