Hughes, Mark Peter, A Crack in the Sky. Delacorte Press, 2010. Pgs. 416. Language: G, Violence: G, Sexual Content: G
Thirteen-year-old, Eli Papadoupoulos is the grandson of the creator and founder of Infinicorp, the organization that runs every part of Earth’s world. Things seem to be going great until Eli notices something wrong with the fake sky and the world seems to be hotter than usual. When a group of terrorists contact Eli, he realizes that there is more to Infinicorp than meets the eye. Before he can put the puzzle pieces together, however, Infinicorp representatives send him off to a re-education center to get him right-thinking. While there he meets a girl named Tabitha, life seems to open up and his world takes a dangerous turn. Will Eli and Tabitha escape? Who really is Infinicorp?
A great action-packed adventure. The characters are well-developed. The plot is fast-paced and well-written. Readers who like action, science fiction, adventure, and “big brother” government stories will enjoy reading this book. EL (4-6), MS. ADVISABLE. Reviewer: Jessica M, Library Media Specialist.
