Malone, Marianne The Sixty-Eight Rooms, 265 p. Random House, 2010. $16.99.
Content: G (a little violence, but no worse than a Disney movie).
Ruthie and Jake, 12, have no idea what they are getting into when Jake finds an old key hidden in a corridor of the Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago. Ruthie’s dream has been to examine the 68 miniature rooms – and her wish becomes even better when she touches the key and shrinks to mini-room size. When they realize that Jake can join her, the real adventure begins – an adventure that will affect more than just the two of them.
You can’t much sweeter than this! I wanted this story to keep going and going. I hope Ms. Malone has more books up her sleeves – whether more adventures in the rooms or something else all together.
EL – ESSENTIAL; MS – ADVISABLE. Cindy, Library Teacher.
