Coombs, Kate The Runaway Dragon, 285 pgs. Farrar, Straus and Giroux (Macmillan), 2009.
Language- G (0 swears, 0 "f"), Mature Content- G; Violence- PG
Meg, princess of Greeve, goes on a quest to retrieve her dragon Laddy, who has flown away. Her father makes the independent Meg bring 10 guards with her, which soon changes when the questing travelers enter an enchanted forest.
The book starts out a little slow at first, but then gets much more exciting and suspenseful as the story progresses. The ending came as much of a surprise, the characters were individual and constructed well, each with a different personality, and the book was pleasantly funny throughout.
