Daisy’s older brother, Bertie, attends the University and
Daisy and Hazel (14yo) are spending Christmas with him. They are so excited to be visiting a
University, and of course, have no plans to solve a mystery. Once there, they
attend one of Bertie’s parties and meet his friends, Chummy and Donald, a set
of twins that seem to be at odds with one another. Donald is the oldest and will inherit all the
family’s wealth. Chummy will get nothing. Amid all the tension between the
brothers, it seems as if someone is playing “harmless” pranks on them. The
girls begin to think there is a mystery to solve and worry someone might be in
danger. Before they have a chance to
investigate, a body is found, but not the one Daisy and Hazel thought it would
be.
Stevens continues to write believable mysteries with both
her characters and mysteries maturing.
This time around, she included a hint of romance. The content includes a
college party, although there isn’t any underage drinking.
