Ever since Jane was a little
girl, she has been interested in the world around her. She has an appreciation for the big and the
small parts of the world, and as she grows older she feels a passion for the
cities. She likes the way they have
variety and functionality. When a big
city planner tries to change her city and add more freeways, she protests and
stands up for preserving the city as it is.
This is the true story of Jane Jacobs who was an activist for preserving
urban living. At the end of the book
there is more information about her life.
The illustrations are unique and well done. I felt like at the end of the story it made
me more aware of my city and all of the ways I appreciate not only the way it
functions but the way it looks.
