Caroline is spending a year in
Egypt with her mother because her mom works for a medical charity called OneVision. When Caroline arrives, she is put off by the
crowded streets and the different culture, but slowly as she befriends her mom’s
driver’s son, Adam, she is shown the beauty of Egypt. Even though Adam is Muslim and Caroline is Catholic,
they begin having feelings for each other, but it seems impossible for them to
have a relationship because of their different beliefs.
I really enjoyed this story because I felt like
I was visiting Egypt and as Caroline starts to appreciate Egypt, I did too. The characters have good chemistry and the
conflict because of their different cultures was well done. The mature content is sexual references and
the violence is a couple of terrorist acts, nothing graphic but it is there.
