Snippet the Early Riser by Bethanie Deeney Murguia - ADVISABLE

Murguia, Bethanie Deeney  Snippet the Early Riser  Alfred A. Knopf, 2013.  $15.99  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G

Snippet is a young snail that lives with his mama, papa and sister.  He enjoys going on piggy back rides, making leaf sculptures, playing soccer and drawing on the sidewalk with his family.  At night, he falls fast asleep, but in the morning he likes to wake up with the sun and his family likes to sleep in.  Snippet tries many different ways to wake up his family with the help of his friends, but nothing works.  So Snippet comes up with a plan to put his family’s favorite leaves under them and then chomp around the leaf they are sleeping on, so they fall into the bed of leaves and have breakfast in bed.  His family wakes up and then they go play together.
This is a cute story about a creative little snail who enjoys being with his family.  The illustrations are colorful and cute.  There are interesting facts about snails on the front of the cover.  This is a fairly quick read and will hold the interest more for preschool and kindergarten age kids.
