Palazzo Inverso by D.B. Johnson

Johnson, D.B. Palazzo Inverso.  Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, 2010. $17.00. Content G.  PICTURE BOOK. Mauk is an assistant to an artist who is drawing a palazzo.  Sometimes when his Master goes to sleep Mauk looks at and often rotates the position of the drawing. Because of this, people are walking on the ceiling and all sorts of odd places; it becomes a dream that can’t be awakened. When the reader gets to the last page in the book, you turn the book upside down and read text different text that goes with the pictures. Interesting book with M.C. Escher types of artwork that skew the perception of up and down, right and wrong. It was very difficult for me to get into because of the unique formatting.  NOT RECOMMENDED, Shauna, reading teacher.
