Go to Sleep Little Creep by David Quinn, illustrated by Ashley Spires. PICTURE BOOK. Crown Books for Young Readers (Random House Children’s Books), 2018. $18. 9781101939444
BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Told in rhyming text, this is the story of monster parents trying to put their monster kids to sleep. We see the struggle with a mummy family, a vampire family, a dragon family, Frankenstein’s monster family, and many more. Finally, as the sun comes up, the littles are fast asleep.
I was initially put off by the title and the implication of calling kids “creeps”, but the word isn’t used in the text and the book truly is about creeping creatures. It is fun to read and would be a great bed time book for the Halloween season, but I don’t see much application in a school setting.
