These Colors are Bananas by Jason Fulford and Tamara Shopsin -OPTIONAL

Fulford, Jason and Shopsin, Tamara  These Colors are Bananas, BOARD BOOK.  Phaidon, 2018.  $17. 9780714876603

This book invites young readers to question whether the things around them are just one color. Like banana’s can be more than just yellow. The corresponding page features little blocks of color to represent the possibilities (like an artist palate). Other examples are dirt, eggs, fire, and more. The pages are thick but not the coated board we are used to in board books –could be easily stained or damaged.

I love the idea of this book, especially the last page about skin color, but overall the book is just flat and boring. I would rather see images or illustrations rather than just blocks of color. The pages not being glossy seems like an issue as well, one slobbery little hand could really ruin a page and make it unfixably gross.
