Trasler, Janee. Mimi and
Bear: Make a Friend. Farrar Straus Giroux (Macmillan), 2017. $16.99.
Content: G. PICTURE BOOK.
Mimi is a likeable bunny with her stuffed animal bear. When Mimi plays with bear at the park, she is
the best climber, skier, and trapeze artist.
One day there was another friend at the park and he was better at
climbing, skiing, and trapezing until he fell.
Mimi let him hold bear and he felt better. Mimi may not always be the best, but she can
be a good friend.
A simple story for toddlers and preschoolers that will help
them understand that it’s okay not to be the best at everything. Also, it emphasizes the importance of being a
good friend. The illustrations are
full-page and full-color. The
backgrounds and shapes are rather simple, allowing the reader’s attention to be
drawn to the illustrated characters. Fans
of Mimi will be delighted to know that she has another adventure, Mimi and Bear: in the Snow (2015).
Pre-K-ADVISABLE.
