Olivia was raised in a work house and disguised as a boy she ran wild on the street of London with her friend Dodger until the lucky day the man they robbed was actually her uncle. But now, years later, Olivia is still running a thieving game, because her uncle’s money is gone and someone must keep the household afloat. Who should back into her life – Dodger. But now he is supposedly the nephew of a wealthy woman. And he doesn’t recognize Olivia as old friend Oliver. Olivia’s plans do not include Dodger, but fate keeps drawing them together.
While is this is, of course, a romance, there is a lot of danger involved. Luckily the Oliver Twist story is less well-known and Langdon departs from it in large ways that help the reader suspend belief.
