This book is packed with
action. It feastures six high
school students (unpopular and popular), two eighth graders (one is a tech geek),
and six younger children all trapped in a superstore. They build a refuge inside. Outside, a series of disasters begin with a giant hailstorm,
ending with a chemical weapons spill.
It is tearing the world they know apart. The leader Niko (Boy Scout) tries really hard to organize
their lives and keep them safe.
The jocks want it to be party time all the time. The characaters are well defined and
developed. The ending of the story
leaves you hanging almost like there might be a sequel. This is a very interesting storyline,
but the language and sexual situations really bothered me.
HS-OPTIONAL. Reviewer: SFC AND CRC
