Rocket writes a Story by Tad Hills –ESSENTIAL

Hills, Tad Rocket writes a Story 40 pgs. Schwartz & Wade, 2012 (July 24). $10.79.  (Rating: G)

Rocket is always sniffing out new words that he likes. He writes them down and collects them all in one place. Rocket decides its time he writes a story, so he can make something of all his favorite words, but he doesn't know what to write. His little yellow bird teacher helps him along with the process by telling him to look for inspiration. He tries to befriend a shy owl, and it gives him a great idea. When he reads her the drafts of his story, the owl gets more curious, and they become friends.

A librarian or teachers dream book! The writing progress is presented in such a fun way, that is doesn’t fell like learning. The illustrations were adorable. I loved that it was more than a how-to, but a story of accomplishment and friendship. Any students who is excited to write will learn so much and be inspired.
