Turk and Runt
are Turkey brothers, living on a farm. Their parents favor Turk because he is
big, strong, and handsome. But when people to come to the farm to pick out
Thanksgiving turkeys, well Turk is naturally their first choice. But Runt seems
to be the only one that understands the truth of their situation, and tries to
save his brother.
While this book
is pretty funny, I think there might be a few students that it will turn into
vegetarians. The thought of a farm full of turkeys dreading their fate is reminiscent
of Charlotte’s web, and can be quite depressing.
