Orphans and best friends, 18yo Alina and Mal, stick together as much as possible. Alina's powers are discovered when the two of them are being attacked by creatures of the Fold while on duty. Alina glows like the Sun, the creatures are pushed away, and she becomes the savior of their kingdom. Alina and Mal are separated but both continue to work towards helping their kingdom. They fight to stay strong amidst danger and deception.

The story enveloped me from the first page. I adored the characters of Alina, Mal, and Genya. The world building is flawless. Ethnicity is full of mixed races
