Filomena is back
in Never After – she is headed there with Jack, Gretel, and Alstair in order to
recover the glass slippers from Cinderella, who is not as sweet as Filomena was
led to believe. The Prince is betrothed to one of the step-sisters, and the two
are truly in love. But if Cinderella
dances with him at midnight, in those slippers, his heart may be caught – and
the slippers are one of the treasures!
For a strong group
of middle grade fantasy readers, this is a must. They will alternately yell at
the heroes as they get caught in obvious fairy tale traps (house made of candy
in the woods) and cheer as they unmask the villains.
