In this 3-part book in verse, Lois Lowry remembers the time just before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, she tells the story of some of the survivors and some who died; she then tells about the people affected by the bomb that was dropped on the city of Hiroshima; and finally she write about her childhood, living in Japan and being the outsider. 

I loved Lowry's personal connections, especially the poem about spotting a boy on a playground she later connected with as an adult. Both the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the Bombing of Hiroshima were terrible events - I liked the personal connections she made. This would be a great, short resource for a classroom teaching WWII.
